ODM SHOULD CONDUCT FREE AND. FAIR NORMINATIONS FOR PARLIAMENTARY SEATS TO HELP CONSOLIDATE PRESIDENTIAL VOTES FOR RAILA ODINGA IN 2017
By Eliud Owalo
I have spent a greater part of this afternoon in the company of Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga and other elected ODM leaders touring Kibra Constituency. Hon. Odinga opened three ODM ward offices in the area, and later attended a funds drive to help raise money for a Bus Project for Kibra youth.
During my speech at Olympic Primary School where the fund raising event took place, I reiterated my intention to run for Kibra MP in 2017 via the ODM Party Ticket.
I also publicly impressed upon the ODM Elections Board to provide a level playing field for all aspiring candidates and be professional in their management of party nominations so as to give Wananchi the discretion to elect leaders of their choise at lower levels to enable the party to forge a united front and consolidate presidential votes for Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga.
Having served as head of the Presidential Campaigns in the last elections, I am aware that mismanagement of Party nominations and apparent imposition of Parliamentary Candidates on the people led to voter apathy in our strongholds. It is therefore prudent and imperative that the Party exercises impartiality in the primaries this time round to avert a repeat of the same Fiasco
I also took the opportunity to remind supporters on the need to prioritize acquisition of National ID Cards and widespread registration of new voters ahead of 2017 to enable the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga be elected President and the ODM and its coalition partners to form the next government
