During the swearing-in ceremony of Tanzania President John Pombe Magufulu, everyone around the world including senior State House operatives in Nairobi were left mesmerized by the grand reception accorded to Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, which included standing ovation from the dignitaries who had arrived earlier.
The saintly presidential reception given to Raila has raised so many questions than answers, giving the Jubilee supporters back in Kenya sleepless nights. It is said there are a few things you can never hide; truth, pregnancy and? Well, a reliable sources in Tanzania have revealed that it would not have been easy for Magufuli to win with landslide were it not for the lustre added by his friend Kenya’s Opposition leader Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
According to our source, the Jubilee administration invested a lot of cash in PM Edward Lowassa but Kenya’s opposition leader invested STRATEGIES in Magufuli. Therefore, it was strategy against cash and strategy won. It is believed that despite President Kenyatta pumping millions into Lowasa’s campaign, Raila Odinga, pitched for the CCM candidate internationally and seconded his loyal & able polymaths and strategists that handed Uhuru a warm defeat.
A source privy to the inner workings of Magufuli presidential campaign secretariat hinted that Raila dispatched a team of political strategists that shaped Magufuli’s campaigns especially in crafting key messaging pillars. The team is said to have pitched tent in Dar es Salam between April and September this year, working round the clock to ensure Magufuli humbles his CCM competitors and later the CHADEMA candidate Edward Lowassa.
Uhuru on his part dispatched Mutahi Ngunyi who sources reveal spent most of his time in luxury hotels in Arusha and focused mainly on social media (indeed Lowassa won both Facebook, Twitter and Youtube presidential races but not the ballot). Both Uhuru and Ruto allegedly gave Lowassa millions for campaigns.
Immediately John Pombe Magufuli was declared winner, PM Odinga also made a formal announcement that he had appointed Jakakimba his Field and Political aide, the young brilliant lawyer who had previously served as his Personal Assistant during the Coalition government.
‘Changamoto tuliyokuwa nayo ni kwanza kabisa kupata nomination ya CCM, rais Magufuli hakuwa yule kwa Kiingereza mnaita ‘hot favourite’, ndipo mzee a kaomba Raila usaidizi’ a top Magufuli aide who requested anonymity told this writer.
Another of CCM top official had this to say upon further prodding by this writer;
“Ndugu yetu Bwana Waziri Mkuu, sisi kama CCM tungependa kutoa shukrani zetu za dhati kwake yeye na jamii yake pamoja na timu yake kwa mchango wao wa kimaarifa uliotuwezesha kuushinda uchaguzi huu. Isingalikua yeye na na kikundi chake stadi, pengine hatungeweza hii race. Mwenyezi Mungu ambariki Mheshimiwa Raila”
Translation – (We the CCM wish to convey our heartfelt gratitude to our friend and brother Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his team of experts for their contribution that enabled us win this election. May be if it were not for him, we wouldn’t have won. May God bless him”
In Statehouse Dar es Salam (on the day of swearing in), Uhuru looked more like a gate crasher, he was captured taking photos with the Odingas and Magufulis- in shame. Usually on such occasion the hosting president poses for the camera with visiting heads of state and government. It appears like there was breach of protocol or is that President Magufuli recognises both Uhuru and Raila as equal partners?
