It has now been revealed that Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and Nairobi Women Representative Racheal Shebesh are funding some of the suspended members of the Sonko Rescue Team to soil the good name of the outfit which has won the accolades of many city residents.
The two former foes have now united to ensure Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko political popularity is diminished in the City. According to a video and audio recording available, one of the suspended Sonko Rescue Team founding member Mathias Owino Ogweno alias Swaleh is seen vowing to ensure Sonko is defeated by Kidero politically.
Swaleh is even heard praising Shebesh and kidero for funding the anti Sonko campaign and he has promised not to let them down. Swaleh was suspended after being accused of gross misbehavior which included working while drunk, use of abusive language on motorists and causing several road accidents.
According to one motorist Mercy Murugi whose car was greatly damaged by Swaleh in an accident along Mombasa road, the former Sonko Rescue Team member only sent her 1,500 to repair her car after a heated verbal exchange on her car damage that was estimated to be Kshs 25,000. Swaleh who is now planning to start “Kidero Mashinani” outfit similar to the Sonko rescue Team has vowed to ensure Sonko’s popularity in the City is curtailed and he has bragged in one of the video recordings that his account is now “fat” with enough money to ensure his mission succeeds.
Reacting to the remarks by Swaleh on his Facebook page Sonko said that the Sonko Rescue Team does not condone any kind of indiscipline or gross misconduct by it’s members. “ I do not and will never condone any case of indiscipline to the public by any SRT Member.
It has come to our knowledge that Swaleh is now being financed by my Political opponents to try and tarnish the image of SRT. It honestly pains me to see a number of youths engaging in crime due to unfavorable circumstances they face every day and as a parent and a leader, I have taken it upon myself to positively change as many of their lives as possible.” said the Senator.
