The wave of resignations rocking ODM is spreading fast like fire in the hammattarn winds, with the typhoon hitting Bungoma County today. Before thousands of cheering supporters at Mayuba Stadium, Sirisia MP Hon Major John Koli Waluke resigned as ODM Bungoma County Chairman and NEC National Secretary for Security.
Hon Waluke’s resignation was preceded by that of Sylvia Ming’ala who also vacated her post as the Secretary General for the Orange Women Democrats, the party women wing.
To witness the fantastic occasion were Bungoma Senate aspirant and political analyst David Makali and Budalangi Hon. Ababu Namwamba among many other guests.
Hon Ababu, who was received with jubilation and was cheered wildly throughout his speech pitched for regional cohesion in Western Kenya in solidarity with the rest of Kenya, and announced that he was already engaging ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Ford Kenya boss Moses Wetangula, New Ford Kenya chief Ken Lusaka and Cyrus Jirongo in pursuit of this goal.
Ababu made it clear that he and his colleagues were shareholders in ODM and no one will intimidate them. He reiterated that they would only leave at their pleasure and on their terms. He warned against chest thumping while the orange house was burning in Kisii, Western and Coast.
Ababu announced that next Thursday would be a key day in their new journey. A journey towards progressive politics devoid of empty rhetoric, hate, divisions and insults.
