I am telling you this but i will not persuade you to agree with me. After all you have your mind, whether independent or otherwise, to make your own conclusions.
I have tried to avoid this debate of old folks getting their way into Uhuru’s government. One thing I must make clear is that the youth have gotten a raw deal but better than the previous appointments. I wont debate that, only a silly bigot can oppose it.
Nevertheless, we as the young people must continue to demand from the government that more opportunities be availed to the youths. We must also be cognisant of the fact that it is never criminal to appoint old guys to any position. Unless foolishness overwhelms you, you shouldn’t think that way.
In fact, I would challenge those opposition loudmouths condemning the appointments of people in their sunset years to the government to show me any government in the world, including our role model in democracy, the USA, where old folks aren’t included in the management of state affairs. Don’t sell to us your idiocy, convince us with facts.
We should not make it appear criminal for old people to work or to appoint old guys to government jobs. In running a government, you need the experience of the old and the dynamism of the young. However, we must persist in calling for more youth and few old guys in government.
This brings me to something that pains me. Remember in 2013, jubilee made it look like an old man was not fit to rule this country. I am talking about Raila Odinga. Campaign was based on age factor and we painstakingly as the CORD tried to convince people that age musn’t be a factor.
By good or bad luck, jubilee got to power and you know the story.
Let me also draw your attention to the last year’s Homabay by elections where the leading contenders were Moses Otieno Kajwang and Philip Okundi. As the campaigns progressed, ODM loyalists pegged the campaign on age where by they claimed that Okundi was old and that Kajwang was the best because he was young.
I then warned them in one of the private chat groups that, we will have no moral authority to campaign for Raila in 2017 against Uhuru if we claim that old people should not be elected. Most of them accepted but other idiots went on.
At the moment, you can see how Raila sycophants have launched anti-old campaign against those appointed by Uhuru. I have always said that some things we do or say have direct impact on Raila’s bid for presidency. Regrettably, we have political opportunists who don’t understand these very simple facts. They better sing #BabaPodPek the who day with their unhinged tongue.
These pathetic loyalists get excited with petty things not knowing the repercussions they have on Raila. Acts of bitterness towards issues that matter will really cost us.
I wonder how we will campaign for Raila who will be 72 against Uhuru by 2017. Going by the standards being set by ODM sycophants, it is clear that anybody old should rest at home and allow the youth alone to run the show.
I hope this includes Raila?
I love Raila, I will hope to campaign for him, champion his course and sell his good agenda. But hey, how will i do this when trillions of his supporters hate old people, at least going by their sentiments?
Please talk to me, lets debate it folks, I know I may be wrong.
