Dr. Alfred Mutua’s rise is a headache to Kalonzo Musyoka and his advisors. Kalonzo will be badly shredded if he doesn’t make quick strategic decisions.
The guy has managed to create a perception that he’s an alternative, if not in Ukambani then in Machakos.
He’s the most famous governor currently who has built his reputation as a “performer” and multiple surveys have ranked him top other 46 governor’s.
A recent survey showed he’ll scoop a mind-boggling 80% of Machakos votes in the forthcoming elections.
It’s unattractive to say, but the truth is, Kalonzo has nothing to show for his long political life worshiping Moi and Kanu, and this is what Mutua, as cunning as he’s, is exploiting to the detriment of the guy from Tseikuru.
The launch of his political party, Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement, can only be wished away by political toddlers who base their narrow-minded analysis on tinted sycophantic prisms.
So what are the options for Kalonzo who now peddles himself as the “New dream”?
1. Move out of CORD, strengthen Wiper and run for presidency. The Kambas will stand with him like they did in 2007 when he abandoned Tinga.
2. Stay in CORD and armtwist Agwambo and other CORD leaders to support him for presidency as the flagbearer. The Kamba vote-block will be his to net.
3. Stay in CORD, support Raila Odinga for president. In which case, Dr. Alfred Mutua will cart a sizeable chunk of Machakos voters to Jubilee. This option will be a death knell on his political life.
4. He can decamp to Jubilee then pick up a senior position after they form government.
NB: Option three is the most dangerous for his political future. We will attend his political burial if he settles for it and Dr. Alfred Mutua will be the Master of Ceremony
