It is disgusting reading articles penned by kids who call themselves political analysts in social media like here in Facebook. In all the articles I’ve read this past week, one thing stands out:they’ve read the history of this nation in parts to the extent of having their minds bigoted.
While most of us have chosen to remain apolitical for sometime, the gusto with which such articles are gaining negative popularity is worrying and that calls for a sober and candid debate.I get sick reading a post primarily meant to attack Raila with no basis;posts meant to attract comments and likes here.Sadly,a large number of people have recently been holed up in such ethnic sandboxes to the extent of hurling insults at whoever opposes their written word.
Hon Jim Bonnie has stooped low of late to make posts attacking the style of politics our key figure employs. While I’ve concurred with him in several of such posts because at times they hold some modicum of truth, the young and bright chap has lost it lately by choosing to go personal. My take has always been very simple:Let us respect Raila and support him in his cause.Neither Raila nor Jaramogi consulted all Luos when they decided to venture into politics. Our fathers and grandfathers had the same opportunity to join in the struggle for a better Kenya. What did they do?They coiled their tails and waited for such insurmountable atrocities to simply go by and die.
While Raila was detained at Kamiti,Jim’s parents enjoyed basking in the morning sun,a rarity at Kamiti. They enjoyed planting sugarcane in that rich agricultural part of Southern Nyanza. While Oburu Odinga could not get formal employment despite his PhD in Economics simply because his father was opposing the government, Jim’s parents and cousins were freely walking and getting jobs.To understand how politics became a natural habitat for the Odinga’s requires some keen study of History.
When we say some Kenyans are victims of irrelevant curriculum,we’re simply being truthful. These are the people who were made to believe that Kikuyus were the only community involved in the freedom struggle.Simply because they’ve dominated every sector of the economy including curriculum review.Kalenjin contribution and the Agiriama have been overlooked or do i say its an oversight(?).So to these recent bloggers, everything and relevance starts by attacking Raila Odinga! How we turn a blind eye to history.
In a nation where mediocrity was long ago thrown to the dogs, you get employment by attacking Raila.By the way, where is Miguna? In a nation where you can even work with the PSCU with a certificate and earn half a million while a journalism graduate is combing the ground doesn’t seem to bother these bloggers. When would sense ring in our minds?Devolution is a brainchild of a Luo academic.Has it been captured in our books?I teach no history.
It would be wrong venting your anger on Raila if indeed you’re bitter with the government.Raila will not take you to court for assassinating his character like Wadi. That freedom you now enjoy is Raila’s.No debate about that.
Cardinal question:Why haven’t they taken that initiative of making it to Orange House to offer their crude and unsolicited wordings they call advice?Churning articles every gap of a nanosecond about Raila is outlandish and backward.Did Raila ever promise them a job that hasn’t actualised? Why are they bitter?
While Prof Mutua’s articles model the young bloggers’ pieces, its sad they’ve kept a blind eye to facts.Always dreaming that Kenya would be any different without the opposition. They fault the opposition on every piece. To them Raila Odinga and Moses Kuria are comparable.Fine.
