Hassan Omar is a new political king toad that has today joined a ‘like-minded’ alliance of toads to croak from morning to evening against progressive hurricane by Governor Hassan Joho.
The barrage of ceaseless criticism by Mombasa senator Hassan Serai Omar on Governor Joho is unbecoming, too personal and reeks mischief. But beneath these poisonous criticisms lies a façade, a smokescreen of sorts. Its time Senator Serai Omar comes out clean and clearly state his mission if not subterranean agenda. Needs no rocket science to tell that he is now deviating from his oversight role as a senator itemized by the constitution into the foolish errand of being an apparatchik or ‘mtu ya mkono’ of Governor Joho’s perennial sore opponents.
Hassan is no longer being the senator Mombasa county citizenry sent to upper parliament to safeguard their interest, but a sane-hater. He seems to have found a new job; probably a better job of being a herald, a marketing researcher busy gauging the probability of Hon. Awiti Bolo (Nyali MP) and political bantam Suleiman Shahbal defeating Joho and annoyingly burning his midnight oil to see the ‘labor of his hands’. Probably he is trying to give them ‘wings to fly’ high above Joho by trying frantically to ignite a popular dissent against the governor. Woe unto him.
It is now easy for the Carmel to pass through the eye of a needle than Senator Hassan Omar to see anything good Governor Joho is doing. Hassan has become willfully blind to reality, a disease called psychosis where he sees what he wants to see irrespective of what everyone sees. He hears what he wants, irrespective of what everyone hears. This defies even the laws of commonsense but slides into the dangerous territory of illusions where he now behaves like a man being haunted, maybe just maybe by his sponsors.
Hassan is no longer that bright, eloquent, dispassionate altruistic politician that inspired many from his days in the civil society trenches when he fought against bad governance; he has joined Team Bundles that thrive on ‘stomach infrastructure’ and held captive by archaic handout culture popular with political touts and conmen.
Omar is a mole, a spy and a fifth columnist if not a quisling. This vicious onslaught against ODM’s most illustrative governor points to a secret Jubilee hand trying to bring both PM Raila and his able deputy down. Not so long ago at a TV interview on GBS, around a time Ruto was to make his first visit to Mombasa as a deputy president, Omar had the guts to remind one of the panelists off air that 2017 Raila should forget about presidency and that coast people will not vote hi because they are ‘tired’ and want a ‘change’. This secretly opens a dark secret path to Hassan Omar’s real heart (and mind)
Governor Joho has done great roads including in Nyali Sub-county of Awiti to improve access to markets and essential services yet these people who should be part of the solution still hate. Working with local ex drug addicts in former drug haven of Magodoroni in Kisauni to fight the vice, rebranding and revolutionizing the inspectorate department to a more service delivery inspired. I will not mention the glittering Mombasa teaching and referral hospital complete with facilities that define every meaning of a true level five hospital, a partnership with Agha Khan Foundation to improve ECD, a recent free fistula medical camp, the flagship school milk program for all children in public schools from ECD to class 3 high mast streetlights among an endless list of good deeds that other counties may need a very long sleep to achieve, since it can only be gotten in dreams. Is Hassan Omar simply ignorant of these many developments or lethargy has gotten the best of his bones?
Among the Igbos of Nigeria, they say “it’s the ripe Mango that get stoned”, and governor Joho must take heart that its success that attract lots of envious emotional political terrorists who would otherwise thrive on hysteria and ignorance to hoodwink the masses.
Gone are days when people oppose to oppose, even opposing needs some flavors of intelligence. As for the commander in speech of Anti Joho opposition Hon. Senator Hassan Omar, kindly let him try something else that would help improve the quality of public debate and public goods(and services) in Mombasa. Eternally ranting like a wicked bee should be the function of civil society not a senator.
Meanwhile I encourage Senator Omar to read John C Maxwell’s Best Seller “How Successful People Think” of note is this line “good thinking can do better things for you: generate revenue, solve problems, and create opportunities. It can take you to a new level personally & professionally”. I’m sure when he is done, he will no longer waste county funds allotted to him in making such worthless, tasteless paid advert like the one he did on Sunday Nation 20th Sept 2015 (page 8) talking about gibberish.
