It has been 3 years now since Don Bosco Gichana was arrested in Tanzania for alleged money laundering claims. Since then, he has never been arraigned in court. The arrest of Don Bosco seemed to gladden many hearts of politicians including his political competitors. To buttress my point, since he was apprehended, no Kisii leader has ever cared to visit him in detention and see how he is fairing. That is none of their business.
I always say that a real friend is someone who walks in when the rest of the world walks out. When Don Bosco was around with his monies, he had a lot of friends. He was friends with the mightiest politicians including Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto. In fact, I remember him buying a brand new Hummer for Raila Odinga in 2007. He was a great friend of his late son Fidel Odinga and they were always together.
Don Bosco gave handouts to most of these clowns from Kisii and Nyamira Counties that masquerade as Members of Parliament. Unsurprisingly, 3 years down the line, the son of the soil has been detained without trial and all of them have disappeared and cannot be traced.
These useful idiots that represent Kisii and Nyamira Counties in Parliament have delinked themselves from Don Bosco. Personally, I never met Don Bosco in person but I can gather he is a selfless man who never disappoints especially when invited to a fundraising.
Notwithstanding, Don Bosco paid hospital bills for the helpless. He nonetheless cleared school fiefs or fees as commonly referred to by many, for many. He never gave a damn where the needy came from. He never cared for the clan where one came from. He despite the political razzmatazz, Bosco ambidextrously funded Shabana FC and unstintingly supported it with his heart.
Don is one of the few eggheads to have ever emanated from Gusii Land. He always puts his money where his mouth is. He had a lot of political factotums for handouts including some of the current Members of Parliament and MCAs. He was an economic mainstay to thousands of the youth through his projects.
Despite being a billionaire, Gichana’s versatility attitudnized him to many – the young and the aged, the rich and the not so reach. He was a benefactor to all.
Now, politics aside, where are those useless blokes from Gusii Land that call themselves leaders some of whom benefited from him when he was around?
Where is the government in all this snafu?
If Don Bosco was from Central Province or a Kikuyu to be precise, would he be still held in a foreign land? I guess no because leaders from Central are sharp unlike the Gusii ones.
What happened to diplomatic ties between Kenya and Tanzania? Can’t we try our own son here at home?
Why is our government lackluster when Tanzania is detaining Kenyans and even torturing them without proof? What happened to president Uhuru’s promise that never again will a Kenyan be judged out of a Kenyan soil?
That Don Bosco was a family friend to the Odinga family, what has Raila done to secure the freedom of his long-term friend now that the Kisii leaders are all crackpots?
If these holier-than-thous from my motherland fear that when Gichana comes back he’ll take their political positions, they have all the reasons to panic because Don is coming home soon.
To the President of the LAZY TANZANIAN government, when will you stop mistreating innocent Kenyans in your cells calling them thieves? When will you drop your economic jealous and LAZINESS and start working harder? When will you stop blaming your sluggishness on Kenyans and deal with your own problems? May be Adolf Hitler was right when he said that it is fortunate for governments that the people they administer don’t think.
The wise say that “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure” The Gusii leaders must rise from COMATOSE and RAISE their standard. If they demand respect from the commoners, they must convince us with their actions. Someone must warn them that the Omogusii is a clever person who never confuses movement for action. They must put their house in order, summon the President and engage diplomatically with the lazy Jamuhuri ya Tanzania. Without that, we will never forgive them.
