Njoroge Matheri, the suspected serial killer known as the “Naivasha vampire” could be released from prison.
Matheri, who also went by the alias “Fongo” may be released if the prosecution fails to produce all witnesses.
According to Citizen TV, three of the police witnesses are in the coast but another three are yet to be tracked down.
Maureen Odera, the Justice in the case stated that the evidence must be produced before a court date on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in order for the case to continue.
The “Naivasha Vampire” is currently on trial for the murder of Miriam Wairimu in the Naivasha slum of Kihoto in 2008.
In 2011 Matheri was sentenced to four years in jail for kidnapping after the police failed to produce evidence on rape charges, The Standard reports.
Matheri was arrested in 2008 after allegedly kidnapping two women and draining and drinking their blood.
