Siaya Senator James Orengo, has become the latest big name to slip off Uhuru’s controversial list of shame which contained names of public officials suspected to be corrupt.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission(EACC) has recommended the closure of investigations into Orengo’s corruption case for luck of sufficient evidence.
“EACC recommends that the file be closed for lack of evidence of criminal culpability against James Orengo,”read a statement from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) on Thursday, June 25, 2015.
Orengo had been accused of criminal culpability in the sale and transfer of a parcel of land in Westlands when he was minister for Lands under the Mwai Kibaki, former president, regime.
Some of the big names that have so far dropped off Uhuru’s list that contained names of 175 prominent Kenyans are; Felix Koskei, suspended Agriculture Cabinet secretary.
Charity Ngilu also saw some charges against her dropped although she is still facing other charges in court.
Amason Kingi, Kilifi governor was also cleared from the list and so was Johnstone Kavuludi, the National Police Service chairman.
Davis Chirchir, suspended Energy cabinet secretary was also cleared by EACC alongside Mike ‘Sonko’ Mbuvi, the Nairobi County Senator.
