SANITY and SERENITY! These two words can only describe the situation in towns across Kenya on such a peaceful Monday. This is the Monday people had longed for since the month long CORD anti IEBC street protests began.
Right from Mombasa through Nairobi straight to Kisumu, peace reigned as Kenyans went about their daily businesses devoid of teargas and meaningless chants.
This is a crystal clear pointer that Raila Odinga has in the recent past been an agent of lawlessness and confusion. The renown all time doyen of left politics cancelled today’s destructions and looting to give the government a chance to think about his ill fated plea for a dialogue, thank you God for showing Raila that Kenyans no longer need bloody Mondays.
We checked on the business communities of the towns that have usually been hit hard by the demos aftermath and they are extremely happy today.
“I think this is an heaven sent Monday!” Said Oyier, a mechanic in Kisumu.
“God has finally seen us! They are not around to spoil for us” Said Nafula, a roadside maize vendor in Nairobi.
The same joy was resounded in Mombasa and it goes without a doubt that, the eighty million shillings that CORD’s demos have been costing this country have been a lifeline for many Kenyans.
