Reports have emerged that former Kamukunji Member of Parliament Simon Mbugua is the one that sent goons to disrupt Muriuki’s press conference and blame it on governor Sonko.
According to reliable sources, Mbugua met with the goons at Silver Springs hotel in Hurlingam the eve of the press conference and briefed them on their assignment.
An employee at the hotel whose name we conceal for her security told us she saw Mbugua enter the hotel a few minutes after nine pm and a coterie of around six men joined him ten minutes later. Mbugua took them to the poolside and started lecturing them. Mbugua gave them an envelope each and gave them instructions.
He ordered them to position themselves strategically at Hotel Boulevard where the press statement by Mr. Kariuki was to take place. He asked them to disrupt the press briefing that was meant to exonerate governor Sonko from any blame.
Our snoop explains that were investigators to review the CCTV cameras mounted strategically in the hotel, they’d see everything that transpired. They’d see how hon Mbugua handed the brown envelopes to the well fed men. They’d see the same men that met Mbugua participating in the harassment of Mr. Muriuki.
To buttress Mbugua’s involvement, in the snafu, he was spotted bailing out the goons.
He was spotted defending them and absolving them from blame, only to run away after seeing journalists with cameras. Mbugua is one of the selectees of the Nairobi gubernatorial deputyship expected to be confirmed soon by Nairobi governor His Excellency governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko although Nairobians have already rejected him.
It remains to be seen whether action will be taken against hon Mbugua. It remains unclear under whose instructions was hon Mbugua working under. It also remains to be seen where Mbugua will come out and either accept or deny claims leveled against him.
