The already failing former prime minister Raila Odinga’s Nakuru meeting was a total failure marred with complications left, right and center.
This should have sent a very strong signal to the entire CORD army that the ill intended anti IEBC demos are not welcome in any part of the most populous region in Kenya; Rift Valley.
The rally was turned ugly when youth from the entire Nakuru region assembled and demonstrated along the town’s streets chanting anti Odinga songs. Most of them were so worked up by the destructions and lose of lives that have been the end of each week’s demonstrations.
Raila Odinga Might have plunged his evil mind into the Nakuru rally idea due to the cosmopolitan nature of the town. His think tank might have sat down and declared Nakuru an extension of Nairobi. They were so wrong.
Across all the eleven Nakuru sub counties that is home to literally all tribes in Kenya, everyone is not ready for street protests. We did a cross check in Nakuru town and realized business is booming and the town’s life is on its peak. “Nobody is ready to run to IEBC offices with placards here, our businesses will nosedive!” most people don’t even know where IEBC offices are so the issue of demonstrating is out of question. said one Mama Oti, a fish monger in the town’s main market.
Rails’s political doom in Nakuru is so obvious. The Kalenjin and Kikuyus who are the majority tribes expect the others to stand in solidarity with them in all spheres; economically and politically. ODM Nakuru Town West MP Samwel Arama, a Kisii has already made public his unwavering support for jubilee government, he is even seeking next term’s on a Jubilee ticket.
Raila’s meeting might have been fairly attended but if wishes as horses, the numbers in Kenyan Political Rally goers would translate to votes.
