Deputy President William Ruto, has spelled doom for the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) in the 2017 general election while predicting a ‘landslide’ victory for Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ruto said on Monday, June 22, 2015 that the opposition coalition has lost focus and there is no chance of it mounting any serious challenge for the presidency in 2017.
He claimed that CORD has sensed the impending defeat and thus resorted to manufacturing scandals for the ruling party,Jubilee, in the hope of gaining political mileage.
“These people do not match our transformation agenda and that is why they have planted scandals such as standard gauge railway (SGR), hotels, laptop project and now NYS,” Ruto is quoted by the Standard.
Raila Odinga, is the defacto leader of CORD in which he has Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula as co-principals.
Both Raila and Kalonzo have declared their ambitions to vie for presidency in the 2017 general election.
But speaking in Narok on Monday, Ruto said that Raila has already conceded defeat in the 2017 race and that is why his party has resorted to creating scandals for Jubilee, the ruling coalition party.
