President Uhuru Kenyatta was in Kakamega County to deliver good news on Wednesday, June 23, 2015 aimed to revive the broke Mumias sugar factory.
However, the visit left one family in a somber mood after Uhuru’s convoy ran over and killed an 80-year- old man who was being carried by his grandson on a bicycle.
The accident is reported to have occurred near Kakamega police station.
Angry residents threatened to burn the vehicle that caused the accident only to be overpowered by police.
Police are yet to issue any statement. The deceased was taken to Kakamega Hospital mortuary while the 24-year-old grandson who sustained injuries was rushed to the Provincial Hospital.
It’s barely a week when the deputy president, William Ruto, motorcade hit and injured two girls .
