The man that ran away with ksh4m, the surgery fees for baby Fidelis Muthoni, has been apprehended by the CID. Thanks to Ndungu Nyoro and other Facebook vigilantes who made it possible.
CID director has taken over the case and the culprit will be arraigned in court when investigations are concluded.
Ndungu Nyoro on the left and Alejandro in handcuffs talking to the police officer immediatelly after the arrest.
Alejandro had purported to be the child’s guardian and custodian of baby Muthoni’s contribution. After collecting close to Ks4.5m, the bloke disappeared with the money.
The money was supposed to take care of the baby’s air ticket to Canada and also medical expenses. The baby has a malformation in her face and the surgery was supposed to correct her condition for her to smile again just like other children.
Nonetheless, when the Canada hospital heard of the thievery, they offered to treat the child for free provided that they get the air ticket and the VISA.
By close of business yesterday, the family had not secured visa from the Canadian Embassy. It’s a crunch moment owing to the fact that the family only has tomorrow for them to retain the chance of free treatment in Canada.
The surgeons operating on Baby Fidelis had scheduled her for a major procedure on Friday. Knowing they are traveling from different countries, it’s quite sad even for them not to have the process go through.
The other options would be waiting for another Canada opportunity to present itself after a period of 8 months or explore other option in India. This could be a huge setback.
