ALCOHOLISM IN CENTRAL KENYA – Where is Officer(s) Serem?: Recently, some women from Kiambu County were being interviewed by vernacular Radio journalists on the problem of alcoholism in their area. All of them blamed Politicians (Governor, Senator, MPs, MCAs), County Commissioners & other Administrators (DCC, ACC, Chiefs) and the Police for the rampant distribution, sale & consumption of illicit/poisonous liquor in that area (name withheld). But they suggested one solution; that the IG Joseph K. Boinet and/or County Commissioner should transfer a Police Officer known as Serem back to the local Police Post/Station because he had decisively dealt with crime, domestic disputes & sellers & consumers of illicit liquor before he was somehow transferred from the area in April, 2015. The women’s husbands had subsequently gone back to alcoholism and neglected all family duties (you know what I mean here), are ever dirty and urinate in bed like small children. When asked why they were insisting on Serem, they answered in unison that he is a good man and when asked what they mean by “he is good”; they added that he is good in all ways (Iĩ maûndû inĩ moothe) and they want him back.
My plea to the IG J. K. Boinet, please transfer Officer Serem back to Kiambu County. As we speak, 6 people are confirmed dead in Thika and they may not have died if Serem was still in Kiambu County. In fact, Mr. I. G, please transfer all police officers called Serem to Kiambu and all other Counties in Mt. Kenya region. As you can see, Officer(s) Serem are doing a better job than all the Politicians (Governors, Senators, MPs, MCAs), County Commissioners & other Administrators (DCC, ACC, Chiefs) in that region. We have to save this community from extinction Mr. IG. Please post all Police Officers known as Serem permanently to Central Kenya and you will have saved a whole society. After all, your brother will need these numbers in 2022. As a Junior Elder, I promise that we will not forget to “return the hand” in 2022 if you give us Officer(s) Serem back. Thank you.
