Fellow Kenyans, our Country is at terrible crossroad. Our nation is in need of a genuine leaders and not brokers and cartels. Ours is a nation that might sooner, go to the dogs unless we find the right leaders we deserve, or those in power decide to take the bull by its horns.
Negative ethnicity is ailing our nation and corruption is draining the limited available resources. Now let us take a look at our two top most leaders, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Former PM Raila Odinga.
When RAILA got the famous ‘NUSU MKATE’, for me he didn’t espouse what he had consistently advocated for. He went ahead to propel tribalism and nepotism which he continuously practices to date.
His main appointments were mainly from his LUO community, and of course a few non-luo cronies with the view of the then 2013 elections. Raila pushed for his brother in-law to ambassadorial ,his brother and cousins do not at all go through party nominations. If in any case they do, they flop and still get direct nominations. and if the the public refuses for instance in the case of Siaya county, he Raila appoints whoever he prefers.
One who belongs to the CARTEL, this is part of the a preview of how we get fooled to the extent of even getting ready to die for them. Now, for CORRUPTION, you all remember when it was so Obvious NGILU belonged to the former PM’s side of the coalition. she blatantly broke procurement rules and pushed for her son in-law to get huge government contracts.
Her close friend’s husband (mbarire’s husband) also benefited big. She went ahead to make unconstitutional hiring of personnel as well as pushing out those who did not dance to her authoritarian way of leadership.
RAILA ODINGA always came to her defense, ferociously nt knowing she was just a turn coat who would eventually ditch him for the other side of the divide, his defense the same way he defended Orengo who irregularly but ‘regularly’ allocated himself public land.
The Prime Minister defended the late Kajwang whose reign at the immigration was marred with haphazard issuance of identity cards, work permits and citizenship. Other examples include what WETANGULA did when he was foreign affairs minister – The infamous Tokyo Embassy Snafu.
FASTFORWARD,the current government of UHURU KENYATTA has entrenched tribalism and nepotism in all possible public appointments. Regrettably, in a country of 43 communities, Before July 2014, government employees were mainly members of the KIKUYU AND KALENJIN communities.
UHURU appointed his cousin BETH MUGO top in the list of nomination and various other appointments (the height of nepotism). Every successive government has had a channel through which they use to swindle public funds.
In the current administration for instance, its administration through the NYS programs Billions of shillings are said to have been heisted under Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru’s watch. In response to the allegations, the President quickly came to her defense.
When corrupt British nationals are charged in charged in a UK court for swindling Kenyans through corrupt procurement procedures in IEBC, our own president goes ahead to defend the rotten institution and its officials especially the chairman.
The deputy has been in several occasions involved in irregular land acquisition of either public or private land but since he is high and mighty, he remains untouched. Sincerely, sometimes I feel like the President is serious about his fight against corruption, but he cannot push it beyond certain limits because of political conveniences especially his 2017 re-election.
FELLOW KENYANS, this is what we are faced with on daily basis. we are caught between a rock and a very hard place. We complain day in day out yet we defend our ‘leaders’ and communities, or even our political affiliations with our poor lives.
What are we going to do? Who is going to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor? Can UHURU KENYATTA OR RAILA ODINGA change their ways and transform this country because as it is we have the different forests but the same same monkeys.
I know this may not go well with their supporters, especially Jubilee supporters. Nonetheless we have told our truth, the bitter truth and we hope we shall not be persecuted. We hope that this shall be used to mirror our society as we look forward to the much anticipated change.
