ODM leader Raila Odinga has thrown his weight behind CNN’s news tagline that labeled Kenya as terror hotbed ahead of Obama’s visit to the country.
In defense of CNN, the former Primer asked those condemning CNN to jog their memory back to the chain of terror incidences where innocent civilians have lost their lives in the presence of an elective government.
Speaking in his Capital Hill office, mr. Odinga gave an example of the recent terror attacks including the Garissa College massacre that was done a few metres away from an army barrack.
“If terrorists have the audacity to attack a college that is barely a kilometre away from a barrack and the government takes nearly 24 hours to respond and rescue hostages, what kind of country is that, is that not a terror hotbed? A regime that is attacked more than 50 times without learning a lesson is a regime not worthy leading people” Said Mr. Odinga who is also one of the CORD principals.
According to Mr. Odinga, Kenyans stop condemning CNN for referring to Kenya as a terror hotbed because even the security agents themselves – those that are expecting to protect the Wananchi – are not safe from terrorists.
In rejoinder to Mr. Odinga’s remarks, Jubilee leaders have rubbished Odinga’s revelations terming them shameful and unpatriotic. They are yet to issue a press conference on the same later today or Tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, Kenyans have reacted angrily to CNN others creating hashtags to condemn it for discrediting their country.
