The Promise that the Jubilee government made – to offer free lap tops to primary school tutees – is finally here and in 18 moths time, pupils will enjoy their lap tops.
According to Dr. Fred Matiang’i, the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of ICT his ministry has appointed a technical committee of experts to ensure the laptop promise is made a reality.
We want to confirm to the doubting Tomases that this government means everything it says. Matiang’i made the announcement on Monday, June 22, 2015.
“Each of the members of the secretariat will be relieved from their current attachment for 18 months, to fully focus on nothing else but the implementation of this project; they are all public servants.”
According to the Daily Nation, there have been 150 ‘master trainers’ who have received education on the program. These trainers will in turn help to implement the computer program at primary schools throughout Kenya. The Rural Electrification Authority has stated they have a plan to connect over 22,000 primary schools to the power grid.
